My job is in Vancouver, BC & I live in Florida. Sometimes I miss actually going to an office and seeing my co-workers every day. I think if I had the choice, I'd rather work for a local company and work on site a few days & telecommute a few days a week.

Fri, August 8, 2003 - 5:37 PMI'm a Mac programmer. I posted my resume at almost every site after my dotcom went out of business in Sept. 2001 (the friday before 9/11), and a month later was hired for a contracting position. A year later, they hiredd me as an employee.
The manager I was working with for a while was in Minnesota - I've only met two other people I work with, although we talk on the phone every day and exchange lots of email.

Sun, April 18, 2004 - 12:53 PMGood for you Mike,
I lost my office job about two years ago. One of the business I had started to work with in the old company wanted to keep me on. It turned into a great telecommuting job for me. One of the ways this is possible is because of Allen Alpreit at www.smartofficesolutions.com -

Wed, May 5, 2004 - 1:55 PMI wish more companies were open minded about telecommuting... IT workers can work from anywhere there is broadband and cell coverage! -

Re: I telecommute
Wed, May 5, 2004 - 7:09 PMI work in IT, and I completely agree. My most productive days on my last job were those rare occasions when my former employer let me telecommute—fewer people interrupting me made it much easier to get things done.
